What Does Sealcoating Do?
Whether you have new or existing asphalt, you may be time to consider doing a seal coat application. Nothing gives a property more curb appeal than a fresh coat of seal coat, it restores a nice dark color as well as a protective layer to preserve the surface. Seal Coating also minimizes raveling (the loss of aggregate) and fills minor voids in the surface. Other benefits include creating a uniform color and appearance for all paved asphalt surfaces. Seal Coating makes a smooth and attractive surface that resists aging and protects the valuable pavement.
Asphalt sealcoating is used to freshen up the appearance of the black top as well as prevent the pavement from suffering damaging factors such as:
- Oxidation
- Moisture infiltration, which can result in cracks
- Loss of Aggregate
- Lifting or sinking of asphalt surface
How Does It Work?
Once we have verified that a sealcoatingĀ solution will be effective for your pavement, our team will get to work. If there are any cracks in the pavement, we will have to repair them before the process can begin. We will then apply a liquid coal tar emulsion over the surface of the pavement. The procedure of applying the seal coating and allowing it to dry and cure is usually done within a few mobilizations, depending on the size and layout of your lot. Not only will you dramatically extend the life of the asphalt, but you will greatly reduce the amount of money you would otherwise have to put toward future maintenance costs.
