What is an Overlay?

Asphalt Overlays put an additional layer of asphalt at least 1” thick or more over existing pavement. This method involves machine milling the surface of existing pavement to the desired depth, applying a tack coat bonding agent, a leveling course of asphalt, and finally overlaying the existing pavement with a new asphalt layer.

Why Do an Overlay?

When your pavement has only a few problem areas, you may not want to spend the money on a complete removal and repave. An overlay may be the ideal solution for you if you need repairs done now, it usually takes less than half the time and is much more affordable than removing and repaving all together. An Overlay is also a quick and easy solution for making repairs to pavement that is structurally sound but might show signs of surface wear.
